

2008 marks Mills 5th season as Red Sox bench coach...Was named to the post on January 9, 2004, reuniting with Red Sox manager Terry Francona, his teammate and roommate at the University of Arizona...The pair also played together with the Expos from 1981-83...Mills served as Franconas first base coach with the Phillies from 1997-2000...His other major league coaching experience includes a stint as Frank Robinsons Bench Coach with the Expos in 2003...Mills, who served as the Cubs Advance Scout in 2001, has also managed 11 seasons in the minor leagues in the Cubs (1987- 92), Rockies (1993-96) and Dodgers (2002) organizations, moving into managing immediately upon the completion of his playing career...With the Cubs, he managed Rookie-level Wytheville in 1987, Single-A Charleston, WV in 1988, Single-A Peoria in 1989, Single-A Winston-Salem in 1990-91 and Triple-A Iowa in 1992...He piloted the Rockies Triple-A club in Colorado Springs from 1993-96, guiding the SkySox to the playoffs in 1994 and to the Pacific Coast League championship in 1995...Received the organizations Player Development Man of the Year award...Mills last managed in 2002, when he guided the Dodgers Triple-A Las Vegas affiliate to a club-record 85 wins and the PCLs Southern Division championship.
